I would to mention someone in my blog today.

She is none other than Mrs Jennifer Peng. I would really like to thank her.

During the week that has just past, I had a 5 minutes conversation with her. I am so glad that I chatted with her. She is different from most of the teachers. This was what happened:

As I was approaching her, I thought she was going to ask me to go home and bury myself in books and only books. To my surprise, she encouraged me to relax at appropriate time.

I am really glad to have such a considerate teacher. Thank you, Mrs Peng.

Most teachers would have told their students off when they see their students not buried in books or staying back in school.

Over the week, almost every teachers and some adults have been telling the Sec 4 to study and study, be it directly or indirectly. I will just bring up a few incidents that I came across.

Example No.1..
A teacher "taught" us how to plan a timetable for ourselves. It is very kind of her to teach us how to do so. However, there was a few sentences that she said irritated my ears. She told us that we are SUPPOSE to reach home on weekdays by 4.30pm and start revision straight away and have 7 hours straight of studies with 1/2 hour break for dinner only. On weekend, start revision at 12.30pm and followed by 11 hours stright of studies with 2 1/2 hours break for lunch and dinner.

Goodness! 57 hours spent with books every week. I think I will go mad with such a schedule. It is totally madness! I feel that the teacher is encouraging us to study and study and the only thing that a Sec 4 student could do is study and probably eat.

Example No.2..
"Why are you still involve in your CCA?"
"Why are you still in school?"
Ok, so for Sec 4, we not suppose to relax ourselves and we are suppose to study at home. I seriously hate it! What's wrong with helping out in CCAs? What's wrong?

I always agree with what my present coach tells me.. Whenever someone skips training and the reason is her parents want her to study, she will always say "Not like the child is going to study for that 2 hours that we are having training." It is true, isn't it? Sometimes, parents seriously have equal madness as the teacher in example 1. Seriously, we can't study all day long right? I mean, yes, there are people who are able to do so. Most people think that, all teenagers should do and they must have discipline to do so!

Example No.3..
"You should stop playing Netball and concentrate on your studies!"
This sentence arose ALL my emotions. So, as a Sec 4 student, I am not suppose to carry on my passion? Goodness!

All the above examples are real life examples and I experienced them.

I understand that these people who have said these words are concern about the Sec 4 students. I agree that Sec 4 students should study as much as possible. However, not too much. Our brain is just like a balloon. Gaining knowledge is all right.. However, if at one shot, you blow in all the knowledge into the balloon, the balloon will just burst and not able to contain any more knowledge. However, if the balloon was slowly blow up, the balloon can withstand higher pressure.

To teachers, parents, adults out there: I understand that you want us to to do well in exams. I appreciate your concern. but.. Please do not restrict us with too many things!
